SHSU Online presents the 8th annual Digital Education Summit, a two-day teaching and learning event about practices and methodologies for online educators. Through breakout sessions and hands-on workshops, attendees will leave DES19 with proven methods and techniques for more effective teaching in the digital environment.
This year's keynote will be presented by author, educator, and engineer Barbara Oakley, Ph.D., P.E.
Dr. Oakley will also lead two workshops based on her research in neuroscience and learning.
This event is open to SHSU faculty and staff, area educators, and all teaching/learning professionals.

Accessibility Workshop (New!)
Learning Traps and Treasures: Learn to recognize and overcome common barriers in online and face-to-face classrooms through a collaborative escape room experience.
Participants will be divided into teams and must work together to solve puzzles and unlock clues.
Keynote Speaker
Barbara Oakley, Ph.D, P.E.Dr. Oakley is a Professor of Engineering at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan; Michigan's Distinguished Professor of the Year; and Coursera's inaugural "Innovation Instructor." Her work focuses on the complex relationship between neuroscience and social behavior.
