Blackboard World 2020 Successful Virtual Conference Recap

bbworldvirtual20Blackboard World 2020, held July 21-22, 2020, consisted of two days jam-packed with teaching and learning sessions, interactive activities and timely keynote speakers. Sam Houston State University was lucky enough to have 60 representatives in attendance, as well as one session presenter.

For the first time, BbWorld was virtual and free, enabling the global education community to gather, learn, share and inspire one another during what has been an unprecedented time in the educational ecosphere. One of the highlights of the conference was a student panel discussion moderated by one of the Keynote speakers, Dr. Michael K. Moore. It focused on students' unique perspectives on the rapid shift to remote learning and their challenges to success in this new educational landscape. Two former SHSU students were featured on this panel, Tam Pham and Keith Davis.

Besides the sessions, this year’s event included:

  • An “Experiential Discovery Hall" where you could explore Blackboard technologies
  • A space to meet with vendors
  • A virtual community “knowledge bar”
  • A “puppy cam” for stress relief
  • Spotify BbWorld Playlists
  • A free online concert from the “Cold War Kids”
