The SHSU Office of 60x30 Online Initiatives had a busy fall 2017 semester getting out to high schools, junior colleges and career fairs around the state and country! The office's main purpose is to ensure Sam Houston State University (SHSU) is providing information to potential students regarding resources and programs offered at our institution to support the Texas Higher Education Strategic Plan goals. These goals include:
- 60 percent of the population of Texas earning a certificate or degree by 2030;
- In the same year, 550,000 students earning a degree or certificate; and
- All graduates in Texas in 2030 completing a program with marketable skills.
The Office of 60x30 Online Initiatives sent representatives throughout Texas in order to educate potential students on SHSU’s programs at the undergraduate, master and doctoral levels.
The Office of 60x30 Online Initiatives staff reached out to students at high schools, Houston Community College, Lone Star College, and professional fairs. The professional fairs include the Texas High School Coaches Association, American Correctional Association (ACA) and other Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRO) events, for those looking to begin a master’s program or complete their undergraduate degree.
