SHSU Online is pleased to welcome our newest employee, Mike Johnson. Mike joins us as LMS Administrator Support Specialist.
Mike graduated from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Asian Studies in 2011, and he is currently pursuing an M.S. in Instructional Technology from the University of Tennessee.
His past experience has helped prepare him for his new position. "While pursuing my undergraduate degree, I applied for a student worker position in APSU’s Distance Education support desk," Mike reports. "I had no intention of starting a career in online learning, but I quickly found that I loved working to support the students, faculty, and staff who used our learning management system. After graduating, I applied for the role of support desk manager, and a few years later I was promoted to LMS administrator. I worked as the LMS administrator for four years before coming to SHSU."
Mike says he is "excited to join SHSU Online and the Blackboard administration support team. I look forward to working closely with everyone here in SHSU Online to help serve and support the university’s online learning efforts. Online learning is essential for many students to achieve their academic goals, especially over this turbulent past year. I am happy to do whatever I can to support Bearkats as they navigate online learning." He says that he loves training new users and teaching seasoned users new tricks.
When not working, Mike enjoys traveling with his wife, reading, watching movies, and playing video games.
