Instructor Voices Shaping Support Services

In October 2022, all instructors teaching online were sent a simple 3-question survey with an important goal: to help SHSU Online’s instructional design team serve our instructors more effectively. The results of that survey showed that the majority of instructors valued our assistance with Blackboard (Bb) technical issues the most and that the timeliness of our response to your issues was of most importance to you.

You spoke, and we took notice. This candid feedback spotlighted where our support model could improve, providing you with the stress-reducing assistance you desire in a timelier manner. We refreshed our approach by starting with deploying a team of dedicated Learning Management System (LMS) Support Specialists (LMSSupport@shsu.edu) concentrating wholly on your Bb technical questions and issues, with a goal of resolving your issues as quickly as possible. This team, which has only been in existence since September 11th, 2023, has already resolved over 700 Bb support requests during the Fall ’23 semester. The LMS Support Specialist team has quickly become an invaluable addition to the SHSU Online support ecosystem.

Additionally, our instructional designers have pivoted to a team-support model that allows us to focus solely on working with you to design engaging learning experiences for your students that will help set them up for success in their online learning journey.
