On Friday, September 23, 2022, over 225 educators from around the world gathered virtually for the 2022 Digital Education Summit presented by SHSU Online. In its eleventh year, this free one-day teaching and learning event brought together a diverse group of thinkers, doers, education professionals, and faculty peers in a series of breakout sessions, who left #DES22 with proven methods and techniques for more effective teaching in the digital environment.
#DES22 In Brief
22 Presentations + A Keynote and Breakout Session by Phil Hill
35 Presenters. Including presenters from Texas State University, Tarrant County College Connect Campus, Collin County Community College, University of Texas Permian Basin, Wilson County Schools, University of Novi Sad (Vojvodina, Serbia), Sul Ross State University, the University of Hawaii at Hilo, Houston Community College, University of Calgary, Lamar Institute of Technology, and Sam Houston State University, as well as The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Simple Syllabus, and Bulb Digital Portfolio.
Presenters from the U.S. included individuals from Texas, Arizona, Florida, Tennessee, Hawaii, and New Hampshire. There were also presenters from other countries including Serbia and Canada.
Over 150 attendees participated in Phil Hill’s keynote session; Let’s Not Romanticize 2019, an in-depth look at the emerging new normal of digital education and how it compares/contrasts with pre-pandemic learning, including the role of critical technologies such as the LMS and video conferencing.
Over 450 registered attendees with more than 50.6% of those who attended coming from Texas State University System institutions.
