As the chief administrator responsible for leadership of SHSU Online, I would like to offer some perspectives on our current and planned efforts on behalf of Sam Houston State University’s online response to the current COVID-19 challenge.
Despite profound changes to operations during the current COVID-19 emergency, SHSU Online’s Media Services department remains committed to providing key services to faculty members and students at SHSU.
As we near the end of the spring semester, SHSU faculty and staff are leaning into the summer terms, looking for additional opportunities to deliver student services and quality teaching in a remote capacity. With the sudden transition to remote now a few weeks behind us, many are asking “What’s the next best step?”
This installment of ID Corner focuses on Rachel Scherer, who is involved in special projects for SHSU Online Operations, including her current assignment in support of Lamar Institute of Technology’s online course development needs.
By expanding the Online Course Redesign and Faculty Certification program to all instructors at Sam Houston State University, not just those who teach online, SHSU Online will be able to equip more faculty members who find themselves working in a digital environment because of the transition.
