SHSU Online is happy to welcome two new employees, and congratulates another on a recent promotion!
Dr. Herrietta Linton joins SHSU Online Operations as an Instructional Designer for the College of Education. She graduated with a B.S. in Family Studies and Human Services with a minor in American Ethnic Studies from Kansas State University, and holds a M.S. in Family Studies from Texas Woman’s University. Most recently, Herrietta completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University in November 2021.
Herrietta has over six years of experience working in education, from the K-12 level to higher education. She enjoys working with faculty and staff and working in an environment that encompasses aiding students in completion of their academic journey. She also encourages student engagement and persistence initiatives that are learner-centered.
Dr. Linton’s goal at SHSU Online is to assist faculty with creating a diverse and inclusive classroom. She is passionate about higher education and wants to make a positive impact on student learning, modes of instruction, and content delivery methods. As she notes, "I am looking forward to effectively communicating and assisting professors daily in an online environment while promoting the university's mission and purpose."
Mandy Jordan is joining SHSU Online Research and Special Projects as a Research Associate.
Mandy brings a wide array of experience to SHSU Online, including community engagement, student success, and research. In addition, she has over 15 years of experience working with diverse communities through environmental non-profits, mental health care facilities, and universities.
Mandy has past experience with the online education world. She earned two degrees fully online; a Bachelor of Science from American Public University in 2017, and recently (August 2021) a Master of Science in Applied Anthropology with the University of North Texas.
As a non-traditional student and now as an online undergraduate anthropology instructor, Mandy understands the unique opportunities and struggles an online education can provide. "I hope to use my academic and professional experiences to research ways to ensure students at SHSU Online achieve their greatest educational ambitions," she notes.
Currently Mandy lives in Huntsville, but she hails from Santa Fe, Texas, where she grew up and raised her two boys, who are now in college and the military.
Jason Woodall has been named new Assistant Director of SHSU Online Course Design and Development. He began working for SHSU Online in October of 2020, and has served as an instructional designer with the School of Agricultural Sciences and the Department of Engineering Technology.
Jason tells SHSU Online Newsletter: "SHSU Online is growing each day, and I look forward to helping build teams of instructional designers, digital media professionals, and research associates that will work with faculty to create the next phase of high quality course offerings. Now that we are gaining access to Blackboard Ultra, we can begin to leverage new and exciting technologies and create methods that should allow our teams to have an even greater impact on student learning outcomes. SHSU Online has collected, and continues to collect, a truly impressive group of talented professionals, and having a chance to help lead their efforts is a privilege that I pray I will remain worthy of each day."
