Linked-In Learning's Ready-to-Go Content

SHSU Online is pleased to announce that you now have access to one of the largest digital collections of videos and lesson modules! LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) will be deployed campus-wide through an integration inside Blackboard, and access has been made available in all Spring 2021 courses.

Over the past few years, several higher education institutions across the state Texas and beyond have adopted LinkedIn Learning to promote student engagement and academic achievement in online courses.

Adding Personalized Learning to Your Course

LinkedIn Learning adds a layer of “personalization” to the online learning experience. Both, faculty and students can chart a personalized path of modules or lessons to complete, earning badges and micro-credentials that can be added to the students’ (or faculty’s) social profiles.

Why use LinkedIn Learning?

LinkedIn Learning has over 16,000 (and counting!) modules, videos, and micro-lessons fully accessible for direct integration in your Blackboard course. With courses on financial literacy, writing skills, leadership, computer applications, stress management, and academic success to name a few, you’ll have a chance to augment your own course content with LinkedIn Learning’s ever-growing repository of professional modules and video lessons.

Unlike publisher content, which is often accompanied with a fee-for-use model, a site-wide license of LinkedIn Learning means your students will not have to pay extra for this content!

How to Access and Get Started

Access to the campus-wide license will be routed through Blackboard, within each course shell. All course types, regardless of delivery modality, as well as campus organizations, which have a Blackboard component, will have access to use the license.

There are several avenues when it comes to searching, curating, and incorporating LinkedIn Learning content in your Blackboard course shell. Here are a few ways to get started:

  • Connect with an Instructional Designer: Reach out to your Instructional Designer to ask them for help in adding LinkedIn Learning content to your course. Don’t know who your designer is? Check out the ID listing by college.
  • Think long term: If you consider adding LinkedIn Learning content across multiple areas of your course or across more than one course, LinkedIn Learning will provide “content-alignment services” where your course topics and student learning outcomes are matched with pertinent content on the LinkedIn Learning server. This will save you time in searching through material and help you quickly sort through the modules, videos, and micro-lessons that are most relevant for your students.
