SHSU Online's programs continue to garner praise from students in a wide variety of professions!
In May of this year, Larry Cunningham, the Associate Dean for Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness, Professor of Legal Writing, and Director of the Center for Trial and Appellate Advocacy at St. John’s University School of Law in Queens, New York, wrote an article in his blog, "Law School Assessment," about his recent experience earning a Graduate Certificate in Assessment and Institutional Research through SHSU Online.
In the article, titled "What This Professor Learned by Becoming a Student Again," Dean Cunningham related the benefits of both the specific program and the general online learning experience. He was pleased with the quality of the program, but also plans to carry insights about learning into the future, especially in his classes. The article mentions the importance of learning by doing (creating work such as research projects, papers, manipulated data sets, and other activities, both in and outside of class). It also touches on the value of videos as a supplement to classroom teaching, the convenience of online learning, changes in communication with students outside the classroom, and other aspects of online education.
