Blackboard Tip: Is There Something to Do?

This Blackboard Tip covers the ‘To Do’ module in your Blackboard course and why you can’t see due dates.

The To Do module provides a chronological listing of upcoming due dates. This module is divided into:

  • What's Past Due
  • What's Due

The What's Past Due area displays any graded item that has passed its due date with no submission.

The What's Due area displays information about any graded item that contains a due date.

How can I see what’s due for my students when I look at the module?

For instructors, the To Do module just looks like a useless box that never shows any due dates.  The thing to remember is that you are the instructor in the course, and as such, you don’t have any due dates.  In order to see the To Do module as your students do, you will need to turn on your Student Preview*

*As a side note, it is always a good idea to go through your entire course with the Student Preview turned on. This way, you can be sure that your course navigation makes sense and that your course activities function appropriately.
