SHSU Online Bringing Digital Education Summit to Campus in March

DES-Logo-PrimaryOn March 9-10, 2017, SHSU Online will hold the new Digital Education Summit, formerly known as the Teaching and Learning Conference, at the Lowman Student Center on the SHSU campus. We are excited to announce three of our presenters who will be featured during this annual event!  Here’s a “sneak peek” at their upcoming talks at the Summit:

Todd Primm, associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, will be presenting Blackboard Journals: The Power of Writing. His session will cover how to use the journal feature of Blackboard, exposure to great examples of journals, consider potential issues related to journaling, and how to develop ideas for implementing journals.

Erin Cassidy, associate professor at the Newton Gresham Library, will present Open Education, Open Opportunities. In this session, attendees will learn how to define and give examples of Open Educational Resources (OERs), begin searching for available OERs, and come to understand the how's and why's of integrating OERs into their digital classrooms.

Finally, Pamela Vogel, an adjunct faculty member who is a lecturer of theatre and offers online courses through SHSU Online, will guide attendees in her session on Using Kaltura Video Quiz. This session will focus on creating and implementing captured video learning content into required quizzes throughout the course. It will also show that lesson ideas and key concepts are not separated from the assessment activity, but are a part of it.

There is still time to register for the Digital Education Summit, and we invite all faculty and technology experts to join us for this one-of-a-kind event on the SHSU campus! You can register for the event by filling out the simple form at the link below:
