5th Annual SHSU Online Teaching & Learning Conference Recap

The 5th Annual SHSU Online Teaching and Learning Conference was held on March 4, 2016. There were almost 200 attendees at the day-long conference held in the Lowman Student Center (LSC) and Gaertner Performing Arts Center (GPAC) on the SHSU campus. Conference participants were treated to breakfast and lunch while attending sessions on how to improve online education in the LSC. The day ended with a performance,"Expansion: Putting Online in Motion," choreographed by David Deveau and Brittany Thetford Deveau, and a reception in GPAC.

Attendees included staff and faculty from SHSU, other Texas universities, K-12 institutions... and one person who came all the way from Northwest University, South Africa!

conferenceThe annual SHSU Online Teaching and Learning Conference is a team-building and networking event that allows those involved in online education to gain knowledge and ideas from others in this rapidly evolving mode of learning.

Participants in a survey about the conference had many great things to say about conference presenters. One attendee surveyed said, “I really found Paul Eaton's session on Rhizomatic learning very helpful for designing my hybrid classes in a better format.” Another survey responder exclaimed: “This was by far the most beneficial conference I have attended! I have already implemented many of the learning tools presented.”

SHSU Online thanks everyone involved in planning this event, as well as all of our presenters and attendees. We are looking forward to another great conference in 2017!
