SHSU Online is pleased to announce some new features and changes coming this summer to the video/screen capture tool in Blackboard, Kaltura. Currently, Kaltura has allowed faculty and students to add rich media to their courses through web camera recordings and screen captures. Each of these recordings has had added benefit of being able to play across multiple devices, natively.
SHSU Online is excited to announce the addition of Interactive Video Quizzing and a CaptureSpace Lite with the new version of Kaltura, scheduled to be installed just prior to the beginning of the Summer 1 semester.
CaptureSpace Lite
CaptureSpace Lite enables users to easily capture their voice, webcam and screen, using the same intuitive user interface. All captured content is automatically available for publishing, including easy to embed videos via the LMS rich text editor, a course gallery, video assignments flows, video editing, and more. One-click-publishing is available in Blackboard. Additional capabilities such as clipping, trimming, thumbnail management, captions upload, and chapters editing are also.

Kaltura Interactive Video Quizzing
Kaltura Interactive Video Quizzing seamlessly embeds multiple choice questions at any point in a video. With this tool, creators can easily add their own questions through a user-friendly interface. These questions are attached to the video and 'travel' with it wherever it is embedded or presented. As viewers watch the video, the questions will appear at the chosen points; the video continues after each question is answered. Flexible settings allow creators to choose whether viewers can repeat sections, skip questions, revise answers, get hints, and discover the correct answers, allowing Interactive Video Quizzing to be used to increase engagement, test knowledge and retention, gather data, and more.
